The antioxidant value of Lucuma Nut / Seed described in ORAC units is: 129 μ mol TE/100g.

You may have heard of lucuma nut oil but technically speaking, it should be called seed oil. Though we still refer to them as nuts too, since it is what most people call them.

Are lucuma seeds healthy or do they offer any sort of nutritional value? In terms of antioxidant content, unfortunately these test results demonstrate they have very little. In fact, we don't know of any other seeds or nuts which score anywhere close to this low. To put it in perspective, even your classic American peanut has an ORAC value of 3,166, which of course is exponentially higher. Some nuts even test out a multiple higher than that.

No one eats lucuma nuts, but refined oil is often made from them for use in skincare and other cosmetic applications. As far as the food derived from this fruit, outside of South America you will probably only find lucuma powder.
