There's no denying that kiwi is a delicious fruit though in terms of nutritional value, it ranks on the lower end of the ORAC scale for fruits. For example, red delicious apple calculates out to be 4,275 which is almost 500% of what kiwi fruit is. Or take a look at raw cranberry and its 9,090 value - over 1,000% in comparison. But of course eating raw cranberries, at least for the vast majority of people, would be torture rather than pleasure. Perhaps one of the ways to balance the good and bad is having a dish of delicious sweet fruits (like kiwi) mixed with some of the less desirable, in order to help mask their sour or less pleasing tastes.

Since the amount of antioxidants in kiwifruit is relatively low, we certainly don't recommend depending on it for that purpose. Another solution is to skip the green variety and substitute it with yellow kiwi which has an ORAC that is 40% higher.
