Is apple cider vinegar and honey good for cough? Perhaps. Many have reported this herbal home remedy as being effective for relieving and soothing a coughing sore throat. The recipe is about as simple as you can get... equal parts of both honey and apple cider vinegar, using 1 or 2 tablespoons of the mixture per dose. It's important to note however that this herbal remedy is not backed by any research or clinically validated studies, therefore no claims are being made as to whether or not it's effective.

You can also buy a pre-mixed bottle of ACV and honey at many supermarkets. Bragg's is probably the most prevalent brand of it. However with the premade mixture, it is not equal parts - rather it is mostly just vinegar - therefore it would probably not qualify for the most common recipe people use for coughs.

Cough symptoms aside, how do the health benefits compare between regular ACV and that with honey in it? In the ORAC tests published by the USDA, they provided results for both, which measure the total antioxidant content for each product. We don't know which brands they used but based on their findings, pure ACV has almost twice as many antioxidants as the version with honey in it. Though with a 564 ORAC for ACV, both are lackluster sources.
