The amount of antioxidants in pear juice for babies is not very impressive. We can't just blame the juice either, because the adult version of pear juice scores 704, which is 70% higher than the baby food version. This means it must have something to do with the production process that results in a significant lower value. The USDA did not disclose the brand used in their test, therefore we have no way of knowing whether it was Gerber, Beach Nut, Earth's Best, or a generic brand, and whether or not there is any significant difference between the brands due to production methods and/or source of pears.

It's important to mention that even though the adult version tests higher, it is not an adequate substitute for the baby version, unless your doctor were to approve doing so. Why? Because most babyfoods are fortified with other nutritional components, such as essential vitamins and minerals which may not be found in the natural fruit by itself.
