Does bacon have any health benefits? You will be probably be shocked to hear that bacon has more antioxidant content than most meats. In fact, this other white meat has the most antioxidants among all white meats tested. Though it is important to understand this is all relative, as its content is more comparable to an iceberg lettuce.

Is bacon healthier than lettuce because of that? Definitely not. Almost all other leafy greens have substantially higher antioxidant amounts. While its true that bacon has a very high ORAC value for a meat, keep in mind that the average plant-based food has 64x more antioxidants than the average meat-based food. The average plant-based food is even 11 times higher than the highest rated meat. Plus, even though something like an iceberg lettuce has little nutrition, it's better for what it does not have: 0 mg cholesterol compared to bacon's staggering 110 mg of cholesterol for a 3.5 ounce serving. Not to mention, the saturated fat and other artery clogging and inflammatory properties that bacon has.
