μ mol TE/100g.

The antioxidant value of Brazil Nuts, Unblanched described in ORAC units is: 1,419 μ mol TE/100g.

Despite its name, Bolivia - not Brazil - is responsible for 50% of the nuts harvested each year. Its namesake, Brazil, produces 40%, with the remaining 10% coming from Peru.

The amount of antioxidants in Brazil nuts is low on a relative basis. For example, peanuts have over double the amount, almonds have triple the amount, pistachios have over five times the amount, and pecans are over twelve times higher. Furthermore, due to a possible Brazil nut selenium overdose, only small amounts of them can be consumed at a given time, which makes it quite difficult to attain adequate amounts of antioxidants from them.
