Also known as the black crowberry, Empetrum nigrum plants can be found growing in the Pacific Northwest, with its range stretching to the northern tip of Canada. It prefers growing at high altitudes.

Crowberry health benefits include nearly twice the amount of antioxidant content as blueberries, on an ounce by ounce basis. This potency primarily comes from the anthocyanins (460mg per 100g), caffeic, gallic, and protocatechuic acids.
