What’s your source for this claim? What’s the difference between AstaPure and AstaReal, etc? Which sources are natural, and which are synthetic?

Oddly, none are cited. From what I know (or think I know), the supporting evidence for the benefits of supplementing with astaxanthin is good but limited. So I can’t help but notice of that the general excitement about it seems to exceed the amount of supporting evidence. It does look like a real good thing and I hope studies will continue to bear that out. Right now, the main negative is that it is scarce.

It is possible to get wild caught… without added dyes… /color. one must keep looking and then once you have found the supplier ,.i.e., grocher/butcher… fish market, continue to utilize that source… it might be a little high in price…but what price health. it is better than taking meds, otcs, and spending an extra amount on supplements… eat the fish. salmon is a great resource in many ways…

Hi Candy! I just have a quick question, as a fisherman with such a great experience, are u perhaps aware of any brand/company that is honest and doesn’t dye their salmon? I live in Manchester, England. All the best! Robert.

Josh, I mostly agree with what u wrote, however, as it was mentioned in one of the comments above (by a guy who apparently has worked in the fishing industry for a long time) it easily be dyed at the canneries so u in fact u never whether u are eating bona fide Sockeye or any other species of Salmon. U mention trusted brands, any hints, please? All the best!

It is why you should stick with wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon, expensive yes but the health benefits if consumed daily are astounding for one’s body, brain, overall health. And not only are fish farms banned in Alaska, Sockeye salmon is exceptionally difficult to replicate it’s natural environment. I say if you’re going to eat healthy, stick with wild-caught and trusted brands. Fish farms are a breeding ground for disease and fish are fed grain grain and antibiotics, dyes, etc.

I am commercial fisherman…. since the 60’s ……and I know that even wild salmon are fed corn…are polluted with chemicals and mercury and other metals….and the canneries do dye the reds and kings…..
